Birthright was one of those comics that immediately hooked people with a killer premise:
A missing child disappears… then returns years later from a brutal fantasy realm as a fully grown warrior.
That concept alone was enough to sell me.
But what made the series special was how it blended classic fantasy adventure with family trauma, mystery and emotional fallout back in the real world.
Andrei Bressan’s artwork absolutely carried the fantasy atmosphere too. Monsters, magic, ruined kingdoms — the whole series felt cinematic from the start.
This sketch edition especially looks incredible in slabbed form. The black-and-white presentation really lets the linework and detail shine without distraction.
Skybound’s 5th Anniversary box variants have quietly become cool niche collectibles for Image fans because they celebrate some of the publisher’s strongest creator-owned books outside of The Walking Dead.
And honestly?
Birthright is still one of the most underrated fantasy comics of the modern era.
