One thing I’ve always appreciated about Skybound and Image Comics is how willing they were to push genres outside of superheroes.
Thief of Thieves was one of those books that proved crime comics could still feel slick, modern and genuinely addictive.
This series had serious heist-movie energy.
A master thief trying to pull himself out of the life while everything around him keeps dragging him back in.
Very grounded. Very stylish. Very underrated.
And Shawn Martinbrough’s art style fit the tone perfectly. Heavy shadows, clean lines and cinematic framing that made the entire series feel like a prestige crime thriller.
This 5th Anniversary Edition is also a cool piece of Skybound history because it came out as part of their anniversary celebration box set — making it a niche collectible for Image and Skybound fans.
Not every great comic has to be capes and cosmic battles.
Sometimes a smart crime story hits just as hard.
