There’s a reason this series became legendary.
When Marvel launched the Ultimate Universe, they gave readers a completely fresh start without decades of continuity weighing everything down — and Ultimate Spider-Man became the gold standard almost immediately.
Bendis and Bagley absolutely nailed Peter Parker.
This wasn’t just Spider-Man fighting villains every issue. It focused on Peter actually feeling like a teenager. School problems, awkwardness, responsibility, fear, humor… all of it felt grounded and real.
And Bagley’s Spider-Man? Still one of my all-time favorite versions visually.
This specific issue may not be a massive “first appearance” mega key, but early Ultimate Spider-Man books in high grade are becoming more appreciated every year because they represent the beginning of an era that heavily influenced modern Marvel storytelling, animation and even parts of the MCU.
Plus… that moonlit rooftop cover just looks clean as hell in a slab. 🌕
