This mini-series helped define Wolverine as more than just “the angry guy from the X-Men.”
Before this run, Logan was popular.
After this run, he became a legend.
Frank Miller’s gritty visual storytelling mixed with Claremont’s writing gave Wolverine the samurai/noir edge that still defines the character today.
And issue #3?
This cover is pure mood.
Logan kneeling in the snow, blood on his hands, completely broken emotionally and physically… it captures the tragedy and inner conflict of Wolverine better than almost any other cover from the era.
The darker colors and minimal composition make it stand out immediately in a wall full of Bronze Age books too.
And being a Canadian Price Variant just adds another layer of collectibility for Wolverine fans given Logan’s Canadian roots. 🍁
A CGC 9.4 on this book is a beauty, especially for a black cover from 1982 that shows defects so easily.
Still one of my favorite Wolverine books in the collection. 🐺🔥
