Randell’s Nerdy Things here.
Another interesting addition to the collection, and this time it's a CBCS-graded copy of Wizard: The Comics Magazine #157 (November 2004), featuring the John Cassaday cover!
This one received a CBCS 6.0 White Pages, and while it's certainly not a high-grade copy, the cover is what makes it worth having for me.
The artwork features Wolverine and Kitty Pryde running in front of a rather unsettling X-Men wanted poster, with several familiar mutants marked as either slain or apprehended.
It's a fantastic piece of artwork from Cassaday, who was working on Astonishing X-Men with Joss Whedon around this period.
I also miss the days when Wizard was such a big part of comic book collecting. Before social media became the place to get comic book news, Wizard was where many of us went for interviews, upcoming releases, artwork, price guides, and the occasional controversy.
Looking back at these magazines now is almost like opening a time capsule of the comic book industry.
And while a 6.0 might not impress everyone, I've never believed that every collectible needs to be a 9.8 to deserve a place in someone's collection.
Sometimes it's simply about appreciating the artwork, the history, and the memories associated with a particular book.
Did you collect Wizard magazine back in the day, or were you more interested in the comics themselves?
