This thing is such a perfect snapshot of the era when publishers were experimenting with premium collector editions, sketch covers, certificates, and limited-run exclusives.
What makes this one especially cool is the original Brandon Peterson pencil sketch directly on the cover. It gives the book that one-of-a-kind feel even within the limited print run.
And honestly, the black-and-white Magneto artwork already looks fantastic on its own. The sketch added above it almost makes it feel like a prototype or concept piece pulled straight from an artist’s desk.
Magneto Rex itself is also a really underrated mini-series for Magneto fans. It dives into Erik attempting to rebuild Genosha after the devastation tied to the mutant nation, giving the story a much more political and character-driven tone than a lot of X-books from that period.
Definitely not a mainstream mega key.
But absolutely one of those niche X-Men collectibles that longtime collectors immediately stop and look at.
And sitting in a CGC 9.8 slab? Even better. 😄
