Contracts & Procurement Director - hiring for both Oslo and Stavanger

Join Fossefall as Contracts & Procurement Director: build the commercial backbone of Europe's AI factories - the contracting frameworks, supplier relationships and procurement discipline that turn ambition into signed, governed reality.

The role

Infrastructure at this scale isn't just built - it's bought, contracted and governed into existence. Every data hall, GPU cluster and grid connection begins as a commercial decision, and the difference between a project that holds its value and one that leaks it is settled in contracts long before ground is broken. We're hiring the person who owns that difference.

Fossefall develops AI factories that turn Nordic renewable power into sovereign computing capacity for Europe. Our portfolio spans traditional data-centre projects and AI/GPU-infrastructure deployments, moving from early development through Final Investment Decision into delivery. As Contracts & Procurement Director you establish, govern and continuously improve how we contract and buy across that whole portfolio - and you do it hands-on, in live projects, from day one.

You report to the VP Project Delivery and work alongside Project Directors, Project Managers, Engineering, Project Controls - and across the table from contractors, technology vendors, OEMs, integrators and external advisors. The role is deliberately dual: long-term commercial governance, and sleeves-rolled-up support to projects that are moving now. We're hiring for this role in both Oslo and Stavanger - apply from either city.

What you'd actually do

Set the commercial rules

  • Build and own Fossefall's Contracts & Procurement framework - standards, procedures, templates, tools and the governance around sourcing, tendering, supplier qualification, contracting, contract administration and close-out.

  • Define contracting philosophies and models across the portfolio: EPC, EPCM, Design & Build, split contracts, equipment supply, professional services and AI-infrastructure deployments.

  • Get risk allocation right between owners, contractors, suppliers and technology partners - and evaluate the commercial risks and opportunities of alternative contracting approaches.

Build the supplier base

  • Establish supplier qualification and strategic sourcing for key project categories.

  • Build durable relationships with strategic suppliers, contractors, OEMs, integrators and service providers.

  • Secure long-lead equipment and critical components - and drive supplier performance and commercial outcomes upward over time.

Buy the frontier

  • Develop contracting and procurement strategies for AI and GPU infrastructure: GPU clusters, networking, storage, software platforms and the services around them.

  • Shape commercial engagements with OEMs, system integrators, cloud-infrastructure providers and technology partners - and lead negotiations with strategic vendors.

  • Understand and mitigate the supply-chain risks specific to AI infrastructure, where lead times and allocation can decide a project's fate.

Keep the portfolio honest

  • Hold the portfolio-level view of key contracts, procurement activity, supplier performance, commercial risks and commitments.

  • Monitor major packages and critical awards; spot trends, supply-chain constraints and commercial opportunities early.

  • Challenge project contracting strategies and commercial assumptions where the risk - or the upside - justifies it. You have the mandate to do so.

Stay in the projects

  • Lead procurement evaluations, contract negotiations and commercial reviews with Project Directors and Project Managers.

  • Support tender documentation, bid evaluations, award recommendations and contract administration in execution.

  • Help manage claims, variations, disputes and change orders when they come - because they will.

Build the function

  • Lead and grow Contracts & Procurement within Project Delivery. Today, the function is you - define what it needs, recruit and develop the people, and make sure every project phase has the commercial capability it requires.

  • Set the tone - commercial awareness, accountability, professionalism - for a discipline you get to shape from close to zero.

You'll recognise yourself here if

  • You've sat on both sides of hard negotiations with EPC contractors, OEMs and technology vendors - and you're as comfortable writing the framework as you are working a live deal.

  • You challenge assumptions and numbers without burning the relationship - influence is your default tool, escalation the exception.

  • You can hold strategy and execution at once: governance thinking in the morning, a bid evaluation in the afternoon.

  • You want to build a function, not inherit one - the standards you set become how this company buys.

This won't suit you if you're looking for a mature procurement organisation to administer, or a pure governance seat far from the deal table. We're a scaleup!

What you need

  • Ten years or more within contract management, procurement, supply chain or major capital project delivery.

  • Demonstrated leadership in large infrastructure, industrial, energy, technology or data-centre projects.

  • Experience establishing and governing contracting and procurement frameworks across multiple projects - not just operating within one.

  • Strong understanding of contract standards and commercial practices used in the Nordics, including EPC, EPCM, Design & Build and industry-standard contract forms such as NS, AB/ABT, NLM and related frameworks.

  • A proven record in tendering, negotiation, contract management, supplier management and commercial governance, including managing EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, technology vendors and professional service providers.

  • Experience managing claims, variations, and commercial disputes on major capital projects.

  • A plus: experience working across multiple Nordic jurisdictions and understanding differences in the commercial practices, procurement regulations and contracting approaches.

  • Experience establishing framework agreements and long-term strategic supplier partnerships.

  • A degree in commercial management, engineering, procurement, supply chain, law, business administration or similar.

  • Clear written and spoken English. Norwegian or another Nordic language is a plus, as is experience with large-scale technology-infrastructure procurement.

Why spend the next chapter of your career here

  • You build the commercial machinery of the company - from close to zero. Your templates, models and standards become how Fossefall buys for years.

  • Few roles anywhere combine heavy infrastructure contracting (EPC, grid, concrete) with frontier technology procurement (GPU clusters, OEM deals). This one does - that combination is career-defining.

  • You sit close to Final Investment Decisions on infrastructure of European significance, with a mandate to challenge - in writing.

  • You grow a team as the portfolio grows, across Norway, Sweden and Finland.

Practicalities

Location: Oslo preferred; Stavanger is also suitable. Hybrid. Reports to: VP Project Delivery. Direct reports: none today - you build the team as the portfolio grows.

About Fossefall

Fossefall is a Nordic AI-infrastructure company founded in 2025. We're around 30 people today, and moving fast to bring many more warm and talented people on board.

As a team, we're still small enough to know each other as people. We're curious - about each other, and about how the whole machine fits together - and we explain the why behind what we do. We're warm and generous with one another, and no one is left alone with a problem: we think out loud and bounce ideas together. We're clear about who owns what, and we do what we said we would.

What we're building

We develop and operate AI factories powered by renewable energy, turning clean Nordic power into scalable, sovereign computing capacity for Europe - built in partnership with local communities, energy producers and technology leaders across the world.

Skip the polished cover letter. Tell us about one contracting or procurement framework you built - what it prevented, and what it made possible. That will tell us more than anything else.
