Before Infinity Gauntlet… before the MCU turned him into a household name… there was the original rise of Thanos in the pages of Captain Marvel.
And honestly, these early Starlin cosmic books just hit differently.
The colors, the raw energy, the bizarre cosmic concepts, and that classic Bronze Age Marvel style make this entire run feel legendary now. You can really see the foundation being built for everything that would later become Marvel’s cosmic mythology.
This issue is especially important because it gives us the origin of Thanos himself — one of the single most iconic villains Marvel has ever created.
And that cover? Pure Bronze Age greatness.
Big, bold, chaotic, and impossible to ignore.
A CGC 7.0 is such a nice sweet spot for a book like this too. Strong presentation, classic key status, and one of those comics that instantly stands out in any Marvel collection.
For cosmic Marvel fans, early Thanos collectors, or anyone who appreciates Jim Starlin’s influence on comics history… this is one of those books that always deserves respect. 🔥
