Iâve always thought Iron Fist was one of Marvelâs most underrated street-level characters when written properly.
Yeah, people joke about him because of the Netflix series, but comic-wise? Danny Rand has some genuinely fantastic runs behind him. The mix of martial arts, mysticism, ancient cities and corporate corruption gives Iron Fist stories a very different vibe compared to the usual superhero books.
And Mike McKone absolutely nailed the energy on this cover.
The perspective, the glowing chi fist, the city backdrop â it feels very dynamic without being overly cluttered. Sometimes simpler modern covers stand out more because they let the character breathe.
This was also during that period where Marvel was heavily pushing the Defenders side of the universe again, so seeing fresh Iron Fist #1 variants everywhere was a lot of fun as a collector.
A 9.4 isnât a perfect gem mint copy, but honestly, Iâve never been one of those collectors who only appreciates 9.8s. A clean 9.4 still displays beautifully, especially on modern books with dark covers that tend to show everything.
And letâs be honest⊠Iron Fist has one of the coolest logos Marvel has ever made.
