Help build Europe's carbon management market

Northern Lights is seeking a strategic, proactive and hands-on Communications & Public Affairs Advisor to support the continued commercial growth of the world's first open-access CO2 transport and storage company. With operations ongoing, commercial agreements secured with customers across Europe, and an expansion to offer additional storage capacity to the market, Northern Lights is building on a strong foundation as it expands its customer base, helps scaling Europe's carbon management industry and continue building the brand.

The successful candidate will work at the intersection of communications, public affairs and business development, supporting Northern Lights as we expand our customer base, enter new markets and help shape the policy frameworks underpinning a new European industry.

Based at our headquarters in Stavanger, you will report to and work in close partnership with the Director for Communication & Public Affairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for media, build strong relationships with journalists, develop content and prepare executive leadership for interviews.
  • Translate complex industrial, technical, and commercial topics into clear, accurate, and engaging stories tailored to diverse stakeholders.

  • Work closely with the commercial team in different markets on the announcements of new customer contracts, milestones, and market expansion.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with our joint venture partners (Equinor, Shell, TotalEnergies) and external stakeholders.

  • Participate in the company's emergency response organisation.

  • Plan and execute visits, events, and representation at our terminal in Øygarden and headquarters in Stavanger, serving as a trusted representative for the company.

  • Manage and contribute to the execution of requirements for public support, including structured reporting.

  • Act as a sounding board for the Communications Director and provide assistance when needed.

Qualifications and Profile

We are looking for a driven communications professional who combines strategic thinking with strong execution skills and a keen understanding of media and public affairs. You have a proven track record from PR agencies, political advisory roles, or corporate communications within the energy sector or other complex industries. You hold a degree in communications, journalism, or a related field. Experience in crisis communications and emergency response is an advantage.

To succeed in this role, you are a hands-on communicator who takes initiative and enjoy writing and producing high-quality content independently. You understand the commercial context of our business and know how to tailor messages to different audiences. You are adaptable and resilient, able to prioritise effectively and stay calm when balancing competing stakeholder interests in a fast-paced enviroment.

Fluency in both written and spoken English and Norwegian are required.

What We Offer

You will play a central role in driving our success while embodying our core values: Innovative, Dedicated, Reliable, and Open.

This is an exciting time to join us. Northern Lights is entering a new phase where communications play an increasingly vital role in supporting our commercial goals and building long-term trust. You will help shape the story of a scaling industry within a collaborative, international environment close to key decision-makers.

We offer an international "One Team" culture characterised by professional pride, open dialogue, and a vibrant social environment. The position is based in Stavanger and offers competitive compensation, comprehensive pension and insurance plans, and flexible work arrangements including up to two days of remote work per week. The role requires some travel, both in Norway and internationally.
