If you collected comics in the late 90s, there’s a very good chance you remember the absolute dominance of Wizard Magazine. Between price guides, top 10 lists, rumors, and exclusive variants, Wizard was basically required reading back then.
And these “#1/2 issues” became collectibles all on their own.
The gold foil logo on this one looks fantastic in person, especially slabbed. It screams late-90s comic culture in the best way possible. Add in the Phantom Menace hype that completely took over pop culture in 1999, and this book becomes a perfect time capsule from that era.
Love it or hate it, Episode I was an event. Toys everywhere, Pepsi cans, midnight premieres, magazine covers… you couldn’t escape Star Wars that year.
And honestly? That nostalgia factor keeps books like this incredibly fun to collect.
