Make an impact with Laerdal!
Who are we?
Laerdal Medical is a world leader in healthcare education and resuscitation training that uses immersive technologies and data-centric insights to increase survival and improve healthcare quality. We work with leading life-saving institutions around the world including emergency services, hospitals, ambulance services, first aid organizations, and educational institutions. Our products help these organizations to save lives every day. We are a dynamic and energetic organization consisting of people from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds. Our goal is to help save one million more lives, every year, by 2030, and to do so sustainably.
About the role
Enterprise Solutions & Data (ESD) is Laerdal’s horizontal technology unit and strategic partner to the business. ESD owns the core enterprise platforms and capabilities that power our business transformation – including ERP and PLM, CRM, digital customer platforms, data and AI platforms, analytics and intelligent automation, as well as enterprise architecture and governance.
We are now strengthening this unit with a Director Enterprise Architecture & Data Governance who will set the strategic direction for our application and data landscape and lead a modern, federated approach to governance.
Role summary
You will be responsible for shaping and governing Laerdal’s enterprise architecture and data governance across our core business systems and platforms to enable interconnected technologies and services that inspire, transform and accelerate value creation.
Enterprise architecture – target architecture, principles, and roadmaps for our business application landscape, established in close collaboration with IT, and the business areas.
Data governance – data governance, master data management in a federated model.
Platform Governance - ensure that enterprise platforms are aligned with enterprise architecture principles and business strategy, and are used consistently across the organization.
Simplification & standardization – driving down complexity in our business application landscape.
You will lead and transform the current data governance team into a modern, value-creating governance function, and act as a key member of the ESD leadership team.
Enterprise architecture leadership:
Define and own the vision, principles and target state for Laerdal’s enterprise architecture across business applications and horizontal technology platforms.
Develop and maintain architecture roadmaps that align business strategy, processes, and technology – balancing innovation, risk, cost, and speed.
Ensure integration and interoperability across the Enterprise Platforms, Data Platform and Analytics tools.
Data, master data & AI governance:
Own the data governance strategy, operating model and framework, including roles, responsibilities, policies, and standards – with a clear shift from “policing” to value creation and enablement.
Simplification, standardization & interoperability:
Drive initiatives to simplify and rationalize the business application landscape, reducing overlap, fragmentation and technical debt.
Promote reusable patterns and building blocks, common integration principles and shared master data across domains.
Promote governance-as-code and automation-first approaches.
Leadership, collaboration & change:
Lead, coach and develop the Enterprise Architecture & Governance team
Partner with business leaders to align enterprise architecture and governance models with strategic objectives, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable business value
Represent Enterprise Architecture & Governance in strategic initiatives and programs, ensuring alignment with the target architecture and governance principles.
Who you are
You combine technical depth, business understanding and a strong helicopter view. You are as comfortable discussing operating models and value creation with business executives as you are talking architecture principles, data models and integration patterns with architects and engineers.
We believe you recognize yourself in most of the following:
Experience & expertise:
Solid experience in enterprise architecture in a complex, multi-system environment (e.g., ERP/PLM, CRM, digital, data & analytics).
Proven experience with data governance and/or master data management; experience with federated models (e.g. data domains, data mesh, or similar) is a strong plus.
Good understanding of AI, analytics and cloud-based platforms, and how architecture and governance enable responsible and effective use of these capabilities.
A strong relationship builder who creates trust across functions, cultures and geographies.
High drive and execution power – you initiate and complete initiatives, and you are known for turning strategy into tangible outcomes.
Structured and analytical, yet pragmatic – you look for simple, robust solutions rather than theoretical perfection.
