About the position

We are looking for experienced geoscientists to strengthen our Exploration organisation and support future growth across Vår Energi's portfolio.

This is an opportunity to join one of the most active exploration teams on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and contribute to identifying, evaluating and maturing exploration opportunities.

Depending on experience and expertise, assignments may include regional and basin-scale studies, new venture and business development assessments, license round applications, prospect generation and maturation, exploration drilling, early-phase discovery evaluations, as well as portfolio analysis and management.

You will work closely with colleagues across exploration, subsurface, drilling, projects and commercial disciplines, combining technical excellence with business understanding to support exploration and investment decisions.

The role also includes finding better ways of working and exploring how data, digital tools and Artificial Intelligence can support technical evaluations and decision-making.

Who we are looking for

Experienced exploration professionals with a strong track record of creating value through exploration activities.

Candidates will combine strong technical capabilities with the ability to see the bigger picture and understand how technical decisions create value. They will be comfortable working across disciplines, integrating diverse datasets and perspectives, and translating complex information into clear recommendations.

We welcome candidates from a range of exploration disciplines and are interested both in broad explorationists and specialists with expertise in areas such as sedimentology, structural geology, petroleum systems analysis, geophysics, prospect generation, regional evaluation or portfolio analysis.

We are looking for individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset, who are motivated by continuous learning, value creation and business impact. You should also have an interest in how digital technologies, data analytics and Artificial Intelligence can support better decision-making and business performance.

Background and experience

• Master's degree or PhD in Geoscience or a related discipline

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience within exploration, subsurface, new ventures or portfolio-related activities

• Strong understanding of exploration workflows and value creation across the exploration lifecycle

• Experience working in exploration on the Norwegian Continental Shelf is strongly preferred.

Experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Regional and play-based evaluation

• Prospect generation and maturation

• New ventures and opportunity screening

• Portfolio analysis and prioritisation

• Discovery evaluation and appraisal
