Senior Competence and Training Specialist

Golar LNG is strengthening its competence and training function to support safe, reliable, and effective FLNG operations. We are looking for a Senior Competence and Training Specialist who enjoys working close to the operation and translating technical and regulatory requirements into practical learning.

The role will remain open for applications throughout the summer. However, due to the holiday period, first interviews are planned for August, and applicants can expect feedback then.

About the role

The role is responsible for ensuring that Golar personnel have the required competencies, qualifications, and certifications to perform their duties safely, effectively, and in line with company, regulatory, and industry requirements.

The right candidate is a structured and proactive professional who is comfortable taking ownership from planning through to delivery. You enjoy presenting to groups, can explain technical or complex topics in an accessible way, and are confident working with managers, technical specialists, and offshore personnel.

The position is based in Oslo, Norway, and requires flexibility and willingness to travel to our global sites and FLNG operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and deliver Golar’s competence assurance and training programs

• Develop learning material and courses for personnel, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, rules, and regulations

• Plan and deliver theoretical and practical training courses for offshore personnel

• Monitor personnel competence requirements and identify competence gaps

• Update and quality assure training documentation in Golar support systems

• Support managers in identifying training needs and developing competence plans for their personnel

• Support the development of trainee, apprenticeship, graduate and leadership programs

• Evaluate training effectiveness and use feedback to continuously improve training content and delivery

Competence and Qualifications

• Technical education at college or university level, or equivalent relevant experience

• Experience as an instructor, trainer, or teacher, preferably from offshore energy, FLNG, maritime, oil and gas, or a similar environment

• Experience developing learning material and training courses

• Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS)

• Strong IT and analytical skills

• Good communication and presentation skills

• Fluent in written and spoken English
