Join the world-leading marine insurer Skuld and lead the future of Hull underwriting in Oslo

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to serve as the new Head of Hull Underwriting Oslo. This is a key role in developing our Hull business, in collaboration with all Skuld offices globally, and especially with the London Hull colleagues. We are looking for candidates who can lead and oversee complex risks and independently create new business within our underwriting and business development framework.

Your responsibilities

In this position, you will:

• Actively and effectively promote Skuld and our products to new and existing members, brokers and markets in close collaboration with Skuld Business Units globally.
• Develop and maintain business relationships in line with Skuld’s business development strategy
• Ensure that Skuld is seen as the preferred choice for brokers and clients
• Deliver positive business development through active external market activities
• Deliver a long-term positive technical underwriting result from new and existing members, assureds, brokers and markets
• Drive cross-functional collaboration across Claims, Underwriting, Legal, Loss Prevention, and other relevant functions to deliver integrated solutions
• Ensure compliance with Skuld’s Policies, Instructions and Guidelines
• Be the team leader for the hull underwriters in Oslo and Piraeus
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior colleagues, support their development and strengthen a learning culture

Qualifications:

This role requires an independent, forward-leaning approach, with a strong drive to build client relationships and develop new business opportunities. We are looking for an experienced Underwriter who can lead and work together with a competent team.

Key qualifications are:

• Leadership skills in managing change and can effectively lead through others to achieve strategic goals
• The ability to coach colleagues and lead by example
• Can quickly take on board Skuld's strategy, goals and business needs, and will have an advanced grasp of Skuld's core processes
• Understanding of market dynamics and staying informed on industry trends
• At least 10 years of relevant work experience
• Fluent in English and Scandinavian language, both spoken and written, at a highly professional level
• Can demonstrate alignment with Skuld’s values
