Engineering Manager – designing high-density Nordic AI data centers

The role

As Engineering Manager, you will own and drive the design of Fossefall’s AI data centers, acting as the primary technical point of contact between clients, engineering contractors and the internal project organisation. You will translate client requirements for GPU-based AI infrastructure into clear, bankable and buildable technical scope, and ensure design continuity from early concept through construction, commissioning and handover.

The role is embedded in project delivery and works closely with the VP Project Delivery, project managers, project controllers, advisors, clients and contractors.

The position reports to the VP Project Delivery.

Main responsibilities

1. Design ownership and client interface

• Act as the primary technical point of contact toward clients for AI data center design, translating client requirements into clear, executable scope for engineering contractors and advisors

• Ensure designs meet performance requirements for AI workloads, including high-density GPU deployments

1. Engineering coordination and scope definition

• Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering activities together with external engineering firms and EPCs

• Define and maintain clear technical scope, interfaces and assumptions, and ensure design consistency across all project phases

1. Project delivery support

• Work closely with VP Project Delivery, project managers and project controllers to align design with cost, schedule and risk

• Support procurement, construction and commissioning through timely, bankable engineering documentation and technical support

1. Quality and handover

• Review and validate key engineering deliverables, including BIM and design documentation

• Ensure structured handover of as-built documentation, O&M manuals and lifecycle documentation

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or similar). Experience designing and delivering data centers or comparable high-complexity infrastructure projects. Hands-on experience working with engineering contractors, EPCs and technical advisors. Experience across design, construction and commissioning phases. Solid understanding of engineering quality, documentation and BIM-based workflows.

You work well in project-driven environments with multiple interfaces and high execution pace.
