Computer Vision Engineer – shaping the future of sustainable aquaculture
At Biosort, we apply computer vision, deep learning, and biometrics to protect salmon from sea lice and give fish individual health records. By improving fish welfare and powering insight, we enable sustainable aquaculture, lower production costs for farmers, and contribute to a global food supply with a smaller footprint. If you’re passionate about computer vision and scalable data systems and want your work to make a real impact on the environment and the future of food, we’d love to have you on our team.
What you’ll do
Develop and deploy ML and computer vision models for individual fish identification, sea lice and wound detection, and other health and welfare indicators.
Build and improve methods for fish size and shape estimation using multi-view geometry and deep learning, and contribute to multi-view, multi-object tracking of large fish populations.
Design and optimize data and inference pipelines for efficient, robust performance on edge devices and cloud platforms (latency, throughput, robustness).
Work closely with the software team to streamline data collection, labeling, training, evaluation, and deployment in our production systems.
Take ownership of data acquisition pipelines, including planning and running experiments at farms and test sites (with some travel).
What we’re looking for
Master's or PhD in computer science, robotics, machine learning, mathematics, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience.
We welcome both recent graduates and experienced engineers; senior candidates can take on more ownership and technical leadership.
Strong background in deep learning for images: CNNs and/or Vision Transformers and hands-on experience with object detection and/or keypoint detection.
Experience with classical computer vision methodology: multi-object tracking, multi-view geometry, 3D reconstruction, image-processing.
Experience with real-time or near–real-time processing of video/image streams or similar data.
Practical experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow, plus tools like OpenCV, scikit-learn, NumPy, and Pandas.
Proficiency in Python for research and production code; C++ is a strong plus for performance-critical and edge components.
Comfortable working with Git and Linux, and collaborating in a codebase with reviews, issues, and CI.
What you’ll enjoy at Biosort
