Principal Layout Engineer & Material Handling Engineer

We are seeking experienced engineers to strengthen our Layout & Material Handling team in Asker. In these roles, you will contribute to efficient and safe design solutions through multidisciplinary collaboration, 3D modelling and participation in design reviews. You will support both early‑phase studies and execution projects, ensuring practical, compliant and high‑quality outcomes across layout development, access evaluations and material handling solutions.

In the role of Principal Layout Engineer, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive plot plans, equipment layouts, and piping drawings using E3D Draw, while also performing detailed layout assessments and piping layout modelling in E3D. You will evaluate accessibility, working environment, and material handling considerations throughout the physical layout to ensure safe and efficient design solutions. As part of the project team, you will actively participate in design reviews, offering technical guidance and contributing to high‑quality engineering decisions. You will also support early‑phase engineering and concept development activities, helping shape project direction from the outset. Additionally, the position provides opportunities to take on leadership responsibilities within studies and projects, driving progress and fostering collaboration across disciplines. 

In the role of Material Handling Engineer, you will carry out a wide range of material handling tasks, including selecting appropriate lifting equipment and preparing detailed handling and lifting studies. You will plan and evaluate the use of equipment such as overhead cranes, pedestal cranes, winches, and hoists to ensure safe and efficient operations. Additionally, you will perform E3D modelling of transport routes, laydown areas, volumes, and overall mechanical handling logistics to secure optimal design solutions. As part of your responsibilities, you will assess accessibility, working environment, and general handling feasibility within the design, ensuring compliance with project standards and best practices. You will also participate in multidisciplinary evaluations and design reviews, contributing your expertise to improve quality and decision‑making across the project.

Qualifications – Principal Layout Engineer

• Bachelor/Master’s degree

• 10–15+ years’ experience in layout design and E3D/PDMS

• Experience from oil & gas, offshore wind or hydrogen

• Strong understanding of layout standards

• Strong English skills

Qualifications – Material Handling Engineer

• Bachelor’s degree

• Minimum 10 years’ piping/layout and EPC experience

• Experience with lifting studies and E3D/PDMS

• Solid knowledge of NORSOK, Equinor TRs, and relevant standards

• Strong English skills
