Sr. Marine Operations Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Marine specialist to join our Logistics team. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of marine operations supporting Vår Energi's activities on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. You will provide expert guidance, drive operational improvements, be responsible for Marine Assurance and uphold the highest standards of safety and quality in all marine-related matters.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee and ensure safe, efficient, and compliant marine operations for Vår Energi's offshore fleet, with a strong focus on marine assurance, vessel vetting, and adherence to industry standards (CMID, OVID, DP trials, audits, and inspections).
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and HSEQ compliance, fostering a robust safety culture both internally and with vessel providers. Participate in risk assessments (Hazid, Hazop, Hira, MOC), incident investigations.
- Provide expert advice and support on marine services to internal stakeholders and management, ensuring effective planning, execution, and continuous improvement of marine activities.
- Optimise marine operations through vessel management of Vår Energi`s vessel fleet, vessel sharing with other E&P companies, energy management, cost control and participation in decarbonisation and industry standardisation initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, ship brokers, Other E&P Companies, Offshore Norge networks, NOFO and other stakeholders.
- Manage contracts, follow up vessel owners and vessels; technical issues, maintenance, and reporting to ensure operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- Relevant higher university degree (Nautical Bachelor, technical engineering, or senior STCW Officer); equivalent experience may substitute for formal education
- 7-10 years' experience in marine operations, including offshore vessels, tankers, or similar roles
- Strong communication and networking skills; proven ability to build effective working relationships
- Independent, quality-focused, and responsible for own deliverables.
- Solid knowledge of offshore marine operations, standards, and regulations for the Norwegian Continental Shelf; OVID/SIRE accreditation is an advantage
