Expertise in Rotating Equipment?

NECON is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a long-term assignment with one of our clients in Bergen. Be a part of a highly skilled engineering team, working on a range of projects from early-phase to turnkey projects. 

Typical work tasks

• Perform mechanical design and engineering to develop efficient solutions across all project phases-from early concept development and detailed design to manufacturing, installation and operation
• Act as Mechanical Lead in projects, ensuring technical quality and efficient execution
• Be responsible for delivering mechanical discipline documentation within budget, scope and schedule for all project phases
• Develop and review mechanical philosophies, specifications and design requirements
• Specify, select and size rotating mechanical equipment
• Follow-up equipment suppliers throughout project execution, including technical clarification, documentation review and quality control
• Develop and verify mechanical deliverables such as datasheets, calculations, technical reports, study/FEED documentation and system descriptions
• Coordinate closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated, high quality project execution aligned with cost and schedule targets
• Serve as a mechanical specialist towards clients, providing technical guidance and contributing to strong customer relationships
• Contribute to continuous improvement by developing methodology, tools and competence within the Mechanical Department

Desired Qualifications

• Relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience within mechanical engineering
• Extensive experience and expertise within rotating machinery (compressors, pumps, turbines)
• Relevant background from engineering, within oil & gas, renewable energy or other relevant industries
• Strong technical understanding of rotating equipment design, performance and operability
• Solution oriented, able to take technical leadership 
• Experience from multidiscipline environments, managing interfaces
• Business minded and proactive
• Good communication skills
• Experience with both vendor and client dialogue
• Fluent verbal and written English
• Flexibility to travel or work from other locations when required
