HMH is looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer - Equipment Design
We are looking for an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to strengthen our team within engineering and product development.
Join us in our quest to solve tomorrow’s challenges and innovate our future!
What will you be doing in this role?
As a Lead Mechanical Engineer – Equipment Design, you will take a key role in the design, development, and continuous improvement of mechanical equipment within our product portfolio. You will work with a high degree of independence and contribute with technical judgement and experience throughout the engineering process.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Design and development of machines and mechanical equipment
3D modelling of components and assemblies with responsibility for technical quality and robustness
Preparation and review of 2D drawings for manufacturing and documentation
Development and evaluation of technical solutions within our product portfolio
Creation, maintenance, and quality assurance of Bills of Materials (BOM)
Preparation of technical documentation to support production, testing, and lifecycle activities
Support and drive design improvements and engineering changes, including evaluation of technical risks and trade‑offs
Collaboration with other engineering disciplines, manufacturing, and project teams
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for you who have solid experience with mechanical equipment design and engineering work, and are prepared to take ownership of technical solutions and see tasks through from concept to implementation.
You use your experience and education (mechanical engineering or similar) to apply sound engineering judgement and structured problem‑solving in your daily work, and we believe that you also enjoy sharing your knowledge and contributing to the development of less experienced engineers and support colleagues.
We also think it is important that you hold the following qualifications:
Strong experience with 3D design tools (experience with Creo / Pro‑ENGINEER is an advantage)
Solid experience preparing and reviewing 2D drawings (experience with AutoCAD is an advantage)
Good understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturability
Ability to identify practical, robust, and cost‑effective technical solutions
Strong working proficiency in both spoken and written English
Should you not tick all these boxes, we still encourage you to apply – but we are looking for you who can tell us in the application how your work experiences and education is of relevance for this role, why you would be a great fit, and what your most notable and relevant strengths are.
We focus on relevant skills and experiences rather than years of experience or whether you hold a bachelor's degree or master’s degree.
What can you expect in return?
Besides the typical things, such as flexible working hours, pension and insurance, subsidized and varied lunch menu, free parking, and a great company culture, we can also offer you:
A technically strong and collaborative engineering environment with high professional standards
Opportunities to take ownership of complex equipment designs and influence technical direction
A role where your experience and judgement will have real impact on products and solutions
Support for continuous professional development and internal career growth
The opportunity to work with equipment used in demanding industrial and offshore environments
Workplace: Kristiansand, Norway
