What you'll bring

• Strong technical hands-on background in AI/ML engineering, data engineering, or AI solutions delivery.

• Proven ability to lead and deliver production-ready AI systems, with a strong track record of shipping LLM-based or agentic solutions.

• Excellent stakeholder communication skills, comfortable partnering with domain experts and executives.

• Pragmatic judgement to prioritize, reuse, and challenge scope effectively.

• Deep understanding of probabilistic AI outputs, operational risk, and designing safeguards for agentic workflows.

• Experience navigating governance, security, and evaluation frameworks while maintaining delivery velocity.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in industrial, energy, or similar technically complex domains.

• Experience leading small technical teams or acting as a technical lead.

About the role

Drive AI Innovation in the Energy Sector.

We are building seven cross-functional AI delivery pods aligned to business domains. Each pod needs a technical anchor – someone who can lead end-to-end AI use-case delivery while partnering closely with business domain experts, data engineering, and central AI functions.

As an AI Solution Engineer, you are the cross-functional glue. You translate business problems into AI solutions, shape technical approach, coordinate with architecture and platform teams, develop and test AI solutions, and make sure what ships actually works in production and adds measurable value.

Why this role exists

Aker BP is building the foundation for agentic AI at scale. We are doing this as one operating model; strategy, architecture, science, data, safety, and delivery designed to work together, not as separate teams. This role is part of that build.

We are moving AI into the core of industrial operations, work that spans physical assets, regulated environments, and decisions that affect production, safety, and the broader energy system. We work cross-disciplinarily, with a focus on shipping into production rather than running experiments indefinitely.

Key responsibilities

• AI solution design
  Collaborate closely with domain specialists to translate business needs into implementable AI solutions.

• Impact-driven prioritisation
  Drive use-case prioritisation based on data readiness, technical feasibility, and business impact.

• AI delivery and development
  Lead the end-to-end technical delivery of AI and agentic AI use cases within your assigned pod.

• Cross-functional coordination
  Coordinate with central architecture, MLOps, security, and data governance teams to ensure compliance with enterprise standards.

• Own quality and production
  Own evaluation setup, quality bars, and production readiness, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code-review standards.

• Uncertainty handling
  Design solutions with explicit handling of model uncertainty, defining confidence thresholds, fallback behaviours, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints.
