Security Architect
VARD's Cyber Resilience department is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Security Architect to strengthen our team. Duties and responsibilities
You will help design security solutions that reduces risk, keep our operations running, and support fast recovery when cyber incidents occur. The role focuses on practical security, real-world threats, and resilience, not just documentation or compliance. You will work closely with other security functions, IT personnel, and other parts of the organization to ensure alignment with business priorities, risk appetite, and continuity requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Assess and design resilient security architectures across identity, cloud, applications, networks, endpoints, and OT environments
- Engineer and review security controls to reduce risk and improve detection and response
- Analyse real attack scenarios and translate lessons learned into improved controls
- Assess risks related to AI, automation, and new technologies
- Support supplier- and third‑party security
- Support documentation, requirements definition, and user- or stakeholder awareness where needed
Qualifications
- Relevant higher education and/or relevant experience
- Knowledge of information systems security practices:
- access control and system hardening
- system audit
- security architecture and engineering
- security policies
- Being able to express yourself fluently in English (both written and spoken)
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of security frameworks and standards, such as ISO/IEC 27000, NIST CSF, and NIS2
- Vulnerability management and penetration testing
- Experience working with suppliers, third parties, or complex organizations
- Knowledge of OT architectures
- Knowledge of software development and code review
- Experience with industry standard security tools and platforms
- Knowledge of maritime applications and applicable regulations
