NOV Process Systems (part of NOV Energy Equipment) is seeking a highly experienced Frontend Development Manager with engineering skills, for Integrated Solutions. This role is a critical part of the assigned Tender and Project Management Team and is the Tender/Project Manager’s right hand.  As Upfront Dev. Manager you will be accountable for all commercial and technical areas of the scope in the Upfront Development phase of projects, both in tender, study and start of the execution phases.  This role is key in the organization as he/she is leading the project development in the phase where the foundation is set for winning the projects and acts as the bridge between technical teams, stakeholders, and clients to understand the main client needs. 

You will be responsible for planning, managing timelines, resources, prioritizing to meet client expectations and executing the tender and the start of engineering work for dedicated tenders, studies and start of projects, including all commercial and technical areas such as Process, Electrical, Instrument & Control, Telecoms, Mechanical, Piping-Layout, 3D modeling, and Structure. You will also support Identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure alignment with overall project scope and objectives

The types of EPC tenders and projects you will be involved in, typically have teams consisting of around 10-100+ people across disciplines. Project budgets may be in the region of 30M – 300MUSD+, depending on the scope. 

This role is preferentially located in the Oslo, Norway, as this is our head office location. However as large parts of our organization is located throughout the world, we will consider other locations within Europe. Clients will mainly be international, both Operators and larger EPC contractors 

Our expectations:
•  A thorough knowledge and understanding of tender and project execution and the interlink between technical disciplines, the engineering sequence, procurement, and planning. 
•  Commercial mindset to be able to develop a attractive proposal fit for client needs, and challenge internally 

•  Good communication skills to be able to present and discuss conceptual alternatives internally and towards clients and contribute to a continuous improvement culture to maintain delivery of value at the fore front of tender and project execution and secure efficiency on project allocations. 
•   Co-ordinate and collaborate with other members of the Engineering Management Group and departments within NOV, such as BD, sales, and Life Cycle Services to further the value offering of NOV Process Systems 
•   In addition to your technical skills, you should take ownership and proactively follow up the tender and projects you are responsible for. 
•   Maximize the tender winning chances by continuously working with BD&S, technology team, procurement, engineering, and management to optimize technical tender solutions and concept from handover from BD&S to submission.

To succeed in this role, you should
•   Have a degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline, preferably Process or Mechanical Engineering,   with 7-12 years’ proven experience in a similar role / level of responsibility managing multidiscipline engineering teams in EPC projects.
•   Strong familiarity with the interfaces between engineering, procurement and fabrication of process/utility/topside modules and skids that consist of rotating & static equipment, piping, valves, instrumentation, and ancillary equipment.
•   You enjoy managing the technical side of a tender and project and solving detailed engineering problems, making prioritization as you go. You need certain amount of creativity and as Frontend Development Manager you can make informed decisions in sometimes changing and/or uncertain situations.
•   You should be organized and be able identify priorities and key activities to meet both technical and commercial milestones, having a good commercial understanding is beneficial.
