Would you like to contribute to our international work for children’s rights? Are you motivated by developing strategic partnerships for fundraising? We have an opening for a permanent position as Senior Institutional Partnership Adviser in the International Program Department.
The position holder will be responsible for coordinating Save the Children Norway's (SCN) partnerships with key institutional donors such as Education Cannot Wait (ECW), EU donors (ECHO/INTPA), Global Partnership for Education (GPE), UNICEF, development banks and the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The Adviser will work closely with relevant colleagues internally in SCN and with the wider Save the Children International movement.
The position sits within the Institutional Partnership Section of the International Program Department. The Institutional Partnership Section is responsible for long term and sustainable donor relations, resulting in funding and policy influence that contributes to Save the Children’s mission to ensure that children survive, learn, and are safe.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
- Be the SCN focal point for collaboration and strategic engagement with selected institutional donors. This includes developing and providing strategic direction and steer for SCN's partnership with these donors. Exact donor responsibility will be decided upon appointment and can change.
- Lead the development and follow up of SCN’s donor engagement plans and partnership strategies to secure sustainable funding.
- Build and maintain strong, lasting relationships with key donors and represent SCN in strategic forums and networks to influence donor policies and priorities.
- Drive proactive communications with donors, sharing results and evidence to strengthen SCN’s positioning.
- Maintain up-to-date donor intelligence and portfolio performance reports; analyse and disseminate donor policies and trends to inform SCN and Country Offices.
- Provide insight and strategic direction for institutional donor portfolio growth, informed by donor engagement and knowledge management.
- Assess and advise on a sustainable, balanced donor pool to reduce funding risk and identify new funding opportunities aligned with SCN’s strategic priorities.
- Conduct donor mapping, pipeline analysis, and forecasting to guide long-term portfolio planning.
- Champion compliance culture and embed best practices across SCN and Country Offices; build internal capacity on donor compliance and project cycle management.
- Support high-quality proposal development and lead contract negotiations when required; ensure timely and accurate reporting and deliverables throughout the award cycle.
- Support the overall deliverables of the Institutional Partnership Section and take on additional tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
- You have a minimum 5 years of practical experience from a humanitarian and/or development organization or donor administration, either at HQ or field level.
- You have deep knowledge of major institutional donors, including their strategic priorities, organizational structures, and funding mechanisms, preferably with experience relevant to SCN’s portfolio.
- Experience with one the following donors will be preferred: Green Climate fund (GCF and EU donors (ECHO/INTPA/FPI), development banks
- You have a proven track record in fundraising—developing donor strategies and plans, writing proposals and reports, and managing relationships with government and institutional donors.
- You combine strong analytical skills and understanding of international development funding trends with excellent planning, administration, financial reporting, and budgeting capabilities.
- You are self-driven, highly collaborative, and committed to continuous learning; you motivate others, enjoy sharing knowledge, and thrive in team environments.
- You are fluent in English, both written and verbal; Norwegian, Arabic, French, and Portuguese skills are an asset
- You are able to obtain a valid work permit in Norway, if you are not a Norwegian national.
