Driving ESG performance and sustainability initiatives

As our ESG Manager, you will play a crucial role in implementing ESG strategy, policy, and frameworks that are aligned with Telenor’s values and goals. Furthermore, you will drive, manage and further develop Telenor’s ESG process and lead data collection as a part of internal reporting requirements. Engaging with stakeholders, such as employees, customers, relevant regulatory bodies and communities, to communicate Telenor’s sustainability efforts and foster meaningful relationships will be key to succeeding in this role.

Our ambitions for this role are high, but you will not be left alone. You will be part of our Sustainability team in Norway and work closely with both the Head of Sustainability and Head of Risk and Compliance.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Conducting thorough ESG assessments and identifying key sustainability risks, opportunities, and performance indicators (eg. Double Materiality Assessment, Human Rights Due Diligence).

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate ESG practices across various business functions, including operations, procurement, supply chain, human resources, and finance.

• Monitoring and reporting on ESG performance, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and reporting frameworks (e.g. CSRD,TCFD, Transparency Act and relevant ISO standards).

• Serve as a subject matter expert within ESG, providing guidance, support and training and staying updated on emerging ESG trends, best practices, and regulatory developments to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

• Contribute to communication initiatives with impact and ESG expertise and perspectives.

• Produce content for Telenor Norway's sustainability report and web pages as well as massaging and briefs related to ESG.          

• Other relevant projects and tasks that respond to regulatory or customer requirements.

To succeed in this role, we believe you have:

• A minimum of 5 years’ work experience within an ESG area.

• A good understanding of EU CSRD reporting requirements, GRI reporting requirements, UN Global Compact, EU Taxonomy, TCFD / TNFD, CDP and Norway specific reporting requirements such as Transparency Act.

• Excellent project management skills and a proven track record of managing large projects.

• A master’s degree, preferably within sustainability or other relevant subjects.  

• Experience with stakeholder management and effective engagement across organizational functions.

• Excellent written and spoken Norwegian and English.
