The position is based in Oslo and contributes to our company's success by providing professional HR leadership and support to Life Technologies' employees and Managers in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. We are looking for a person who can see across many areas and can understand the dynamics of our business and possess the financial acumen to assess and communicate how HR strategies impact the Company strategy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the alignment of the Region with the strategy of the overall Business
  • Contribute to increase  the company's productivity and profit advantage
  • Be a coach to the leaders to build capability regarding people management
  • Originate and lead Human Resources practices and objectives that will develop and provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, continuous improvement, productivity and standards, goal attainment and the ongoing development of a superior workforce
  • Focus on the ability to market within the organization and to cultivate an executive presence through progressive experience working with the business leaders
  • Develop and implement change initiatives within sites to drive organizational alignment and effective human resource utilization 
  • Partner with Centers Of Expertise (CEOs) as they develop, communicate and implement initiatives and programs including those related to compensation, benefits, talent acquisition, talent management, legal and other programs applicable to the sites
  • Cooperate with trade unions, lead negotiations
  • Work closely with managers to identify required competency and performance levels, appropriate development and training programs
  • Partner with the COEs and ensure processes are developed that meet the needs of the organization, deliver programs and work with line leaders to ensure data in HR systems are kept up to date 
  • Act as a business partner to management in implementing HR policies and corporate HR programs
  • Drive employee engagement by: analyzing trends and developing site-specific engagement strategies; by ensuring appropriate employee value proposition
  • Manage employee relations across sites to enhance workforce performance and maintain a positive work environment

Desired Qualifications/Qualities:

  • University degree within HR related subjects 
  • 10 years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources
  • Experience with the Human Capital Management system, WorkDay, would be an advantage
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a successful participant on the business management team that provides company leadership and direction, preferably in an international environment
  • Must have the ability to challenge and influence at all levels in the organization
  • Demonstrated and documented knowledge and experience in employment law, tariff agreements and union negotiations, compensation, organizational planning and organization development
  • Comfortable in a performance management culture
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality
  • Understands the dynamics of the global marketplace
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Norwegian
  • Experience of coaching/working with influencing senior managers

Some travel is required – up to 25%
