Redd Barna is the world's leading organisation on child rights. Child Safeguarding and Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) in all contexts is crucial for us in all our work. We must ensure that Redd Barna is a safe place for all. We want to do all in our power to ensure that all children are safe when they come in contact with Save the Children and our partners and suffer no abuse, harm or neglect. The safeguarding advisor will support Redd Barna's safeguarding efforts in our Programme work in Norway and abroad, our work in humanitarian contexts, our communication and fundraising work as well as our volunteer work. 

Save the Children International has thorough and extensive PSEA and Child Safeguarding frameworks and policies. These have been adapted to the Norwegian context and are successfully integrated in our work. The Senior Adviser for Safeguarding will support the continued integration and operationalisation of these policies and procedures and take lead on bringing our PSEA and Child Safeguarding focus to the next level.  

This position reports to the director of HR and Organisation and will work with all departments in the organisation, and especially in close cooperation with our whistle blower manager.   

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:  

  • Continue the development of Redd Barna's vision and goals for PSEA and Child Safeguarding and work strategically to implement these  
  • Be the focal point for PSEA and Child Safeguarding in Redd Barna and support and train all departments  
  • Ensure that PSEA and Child Safeguarding is acknowledged in every process throughout Redd Barna and that we develop programmes in Norway and abroad that do no harm  
  • Liaison for Redd Barna on a global level, and take an active role in the PSEA and Child Safeguarding work of the Save the Children movement, including the focus on humanitarian safeguarding 
  • Ensure that staff and all others directly associated with the organisation understand their personal responsibility for safeguarding  

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: 

  • Relevant higher education  
  • Experience from rights-based work, preferably children's rights 
  • Experience from work with child safeguarding and/or child protection  
  • International experience and understanding of global PSEA and Child Safeguarding  
  • Experience and skills in leading policy development work 
  • Knowledge and experience on gender equality and disability inclusion to insure a particular focus on the most vulnerable children  
  • The ability to speak, read and write Norwegian and English
