QHSE Lead - Projects & Engineering

As our QHSE Lead, you will be a key partner to both our Engineering and Project teams, helping create a culture where safety, quality and continuous improvement are part of how we work.

We are looking for someone who is experienced, curious and confident enough to challenge, while also being approachable and committed to helping others succeed. You will need the ability to move comfortably between the big picture and the details, understanding project execution, identifying risks and quality gaps, and working hands-on with teams to find practical solutions.

Your experience from a project-based engineering environment will be important, as you will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from tender and early planning through execution and completion. You will act independently of individual project delivery teams, providing a strong second line of assurance while remaining a valued and supportive resource to Project Managers and the Archer Engineering team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, asking the right questions, improving the way things are done and making a difference to project performance. You will have the independence to challenge when needed, but also the opportunity to coach, mentor and enable teams to deliver high-quality results.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain QHSE processes in line with internal and client requirements, relevant standards, governing rules and regulations.
  • Promote QHSE throughout the project lifecycle, providing awareness, guidance, support and mentoring to the Engineering team.
  • Monitor projects and engineering quality and performance, providing independent assurance and challenging where requirements are not met.
  • Facilitate and follow up risk and quality reviews, audits and assessments, ensuring findings and recommendations are effectively addressed.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities across HSE, quality and project performance, and turning lessons learned into better ways of working.
  • Follow up non-conformances, incidents and Synergi cases, ensuring root-cause analysis, corrective actions and lessons learned are captured and implemented.
  • Monitor and report QHSE KPIs and improvement actions, supporting the development and follow-up of HSE, Quality and Focus improvement plans.
  • Act as the department's primary QHSE contact towards clients and third parties, including quality and HSE audits, findings and non-conformances.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a practical professional with a passion for quality who understands projects, people and business. You should be comfortable working independently, but equally enjoy being part of a team and supporting others.

Ideally, you bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably within engineering, project management, QHSE or another relevant technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience from a project-based engineering environment, with a good understanding of project execution models.
  • Experience with QHSE systems and requirements within the oil & gas industry; knowledge of major operators is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of an organisation.
  • A structured, analytical and proactive approach, combined with the drive to support the organisation and make continuous improvements.
  • The confidence and integrity to challenge when necessary and stand firm on compliance, while maintaining a constructive and collaborative approach.
  • Fluent Norwegian and English, both written and spoken.

As part of Archer's wider QHSE team, you will join a supportive and collaborative environment where knowledge, experience and ideas are shared openly. You'll have a strong network of QHSE colleagues to discuss cases, challenges and opportunities, learn from each other and work together to find practical solutions.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who wants to make a difference. Someone who sees QHSE not just as a set of rules, but as an opportunity to strengthen our projects, support our people and continuously improve how we deliver.
