Role overview

The Tower department is strengthening its release execution and configuration control capabilities. We are now looking for a structured and technically minded professional to support the Tower Release Manager in coordinating product releases, following up development progress, and ensuring proper configuration and change control.

The Release & Configuration Controller will be a key operational support role in the release team. The position combines release coordination, Jira follow-up, and configuration management activities in accordance with our development framework, approved release scope, and applicable software lifecycle standards such as ED-109A.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is structured, proactive, and comfortable working closely with development teams to ensure progress, quality, traceability, and documentation discipline.

Key responsibilities

As Release & Configuration Controller TWR, you will:

• Support the Release Manager in planning, monitoring, and coordinating TWR product releases.
• Follow up releases progress across development teams, including status, actions, dependencies, and risks.
• Monitor Jira Epics and development items to ensure they are correctly defined, updated, linked, and processed according to the agreed workflow.
• Support Change Control Board preparation and follow-up, including change status, decisions, and approvals.
• Ensure configuration management activities are performed in line with applicable plans and procedures.
• Support the establishment and documentation of product baselines, including relevant configuration records and release artefacts. 
• Verify that required release and lifecycle documentation is complete, consistent, approved, and properly versioned.
• Prepare status inputs, KPI data, action logs, and reporting material.
• Act as delegated support for the Release Manager when required.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with:

• Technical education and experience preferably in software/system engineering, configuration management/quality and verification with understanding for structured development processes.
• Practical experience with Jira or similar tools.
• Familiarity with Git-based version control, branching, tagging, pull requests, and baseline control.
• Strong communication skills in Norwegian and English.
• Experience from regulated or safety-related environments, and familiarity with ED-109A, ED-153, DO-178/ED-12, aviation, ATM/ANS, or similar standards, would be an advantage.
• Strong communication skills in English and are comfortable following up people, actions, deadlines and decisions.
