Want to build the data platform behind millions of users across the Nordics?
Spenn Group is a technology company building and operating a loyalty platform with flexible points in the Nordics. We connect well-known brands through one shared point system, so that everyday spending takes you further. Spenn Group provides shared, flexible points that flows freely across a range of leading consumer brands, including Norwegian, Strawberry, Uno-X, 7-Eleven, Narvesen, and REMA 1000, enabling cross-brand earn and redemption while preserving each brand's individual loyalty program. We launched in late 2024 and already have millions of users across the Nordics. We're growing fast and just getting started. This is a rare chance to join a small, ambitious team and help shape something that will touch millions of people's everyday lives.
Life at Spenn
We run as a modern, cross-functional organisation: small, autonomous teams across product, technology, data and commercial who work closely together.
The culture is high-performing and supportive. We bring passion, push things forward and challenge each other openly, and we eagerly celebrate wins together. Because Spenn sits at the center of a Nordic ecosystem, you also get to spar with strong engineers across our owners and partners and help shape modern architecture well beyond our own walls. We lean into modern tooling, including AI (Claude, GitHub Copilot), and we are flexible: we respect life outside work, while believing that being together at our office at Solli in Oslo is how we build culture and momentum together.
Senior Data Engineer
We’re seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join Spenn Group’s Product & Tech team at our office in Oslo. With millions of users and three of the largest brands in the Nordics behind us, every point earned and spent generates data, and the insight that makes the whole ecosystem smarter runs on the platform you build. In this role, you own the data foundation turning everyday activity into insight and product value.
As a Senior Data Engineer in our Data & Analytics team, you will design and build the data platform that powers Spenn’s analytics, reporting, and customer experiences. You’ll create reliable pipelines and well-modeled data that turn loyalty-ecosystem data into insight and product value. You will take ownership of our data platform end to end and set the standard for data engineering across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Data platform – Design, build, and operate Spenn’s data platform on Snowflake, ensuring it is reliable, performant, and scalable.
Data modeling & transformation – Develop and maintain robust data models and transformation pipelines using dbt, following best practices in testing, documentation, and version control.
Data pipelines – Build and orchestrate ingestion pipelines that bring data from the app, platform, partners, and third-party sources into the warehouse.
Data quality & governance – Ensure data quality, integrity, and lineage, and support compliance with data-privacy requirements such as GDPR.
Enabling analytics & AI – Partner with analysts, data scientists, and product to deliver clean, well-structured datasets that power dashboards, experimentation, the recommendation engine, and customer experiences.
Technical leadership – Set standards for data engineering, mentor others, and contribute to the architecture of our data platform.
AI-Driven Efficiency – Utilize and advocate for AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to accelerate data development, documentation, and quality assurance.
Collaboration – Work closely with analytics, backend, and product teams to deliver data capabilities end-to-end.
Required Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Several years of professional data engineering experience, at a level where you can own the data platform independently and set the standard.
Strong hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse, ideally Snowflake (deep experience with Databricks, BigQuery or Redshift is also highly relevant, as the fundamentals matter most).
Strong proficiency with SQL and dbt (or a similar transformation framework such as SQLMesh or Dataform).
Experience building and orchestrating ELT/ETL pipelines.
Solid understanding of data modeling and data warehousing best practices.
Programming skills (e.g., Python) for data tooling and automation.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and BI tools is a plus.
Experience in fintech, loyalty, or other data-privacy-sensitive domains is an advantage.
Active, demonstrated use of AI tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) to work more efficiently. This is a genuine expectation at Spenn, not a nice-to-have.
Full professional proficiency in Norwegian (Danish or Swedish also fine) and English. Day-to-day work in Norwegian, while all documentation is in English.
Experience in fintech or other regulated environments is an advantage.
Personal Attributes
Strong sense of ownership, with a focus on data quality, reliability, and scalability.
Collaborative and clear communicator who bridges technical and analytical teams.
Curious and tech-savvy, with a passion for well-engineered data systems.
Improvement-minded, always seeking to refine pipelines, models, and ways of working.
Comfortable in a fast-paced, iterative environment with evolving priorities.
What we offer
This is a role where your work is felt by millions: every time someone across the Nordics earns or spends points on a flight, a hotel stay or a grocery run, that activity flows through the data platform you build, and into the insight, dashboards and personalized experiences making the ecosystem better.
By making Spenn's data reliable, well-modeled and trustworthy, you directly enable analysts, data scientists and product teams to move faster and make better decisions with confidence. You will set the standard for data engineering at Spenn from early on, owning the platform end-to-end and shaping how the whole organization works with data.
Being part of the Engineering team at Spenn also means being a center of excellence for the wider ecosystem - that's our ambition. Spenn drives the architecture and tech forums across our owners and partners (including Norwegian, Strawberry and Reitan), so you get to spar with strong engineers well beyond our own walls and help set the direction for data across the ecosystem.
Last but not least, you will do this alongside a small, tight-knit engineering team with a very high professional level and genuinely strong collaboration, where people share knowledge openly, help each other move faster, and enjoy the everyday work.
