We connect well-known brands through one shared point system, so that everyday spending takes you further. Spenn Group provides shared, flexible points that flows freely across a range of leading consumer brands, including Norwegian, Strawberry, Uno-X, 7-Eleven, Narvesen, and REMA 1000, enabling cross-brand earn and redemption while preserving each brand's individual loyalty program. We launched in late 2024 and already have millions of users across the Nordics. We're growing fast and just getting started. This is a rare chance to join a small, ambitious team and help shape something that will touch millions of people's everyday lives.
Life at Spenn
We run as a modern, cross-functional organisation: small, autonomous teams across product, technology, data and commercial who work closely together.
The culture is high-performing and supportive. We bring passion, push things forward and challenge each other openly, and we eagerly celebrate wins together. Because Spenn sits at the center of a Nordic ecosystem, you also get to spar with strong engineers across our owners and partners and help shape modern architecture well beyond our own walls. We lean into modern tooling, including AI (Claude, GitHub Copilot), and we are flexible: we respect life outside work, while believing that being together at our office at Solli in Oslo is how we build culture and momentum together.
Senior Platform / DevOps Engineer
We’re seeking a Senior Platform / DevOps Engineer to join Spenn Group’s Product & Tech team at our office in Oslo. With millions of users and three of the Nordics' largest brands behind us, reliability is not a nice-to-have but a core part of the product itself. In this role you own the platform that keeps that promise every single day.
As a Senior Platform / DevOps Engineer in our Backend & Infrastructure team, you will own and evolve the cloud infrastructure, automation, and platform reliability that Spenn’s services run on. Working in close tandem with our backend & frontend engineers, you’ll enable fast, safe, and automated delivery across the engineering organization, and help keep our platform secure, scalable, and highly available.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud infrastructure – Design, provision, and operate Spenn’s AWS infrastructure using Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices, ensuring scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
Container orchestration – Build and manage Kubernetes clusters and workloads, ensuring reliable and scalable deployment of services.
CI/CD automation – Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub and GitHub Actions to enable fast, safe, and automated build, test, and deployment.
Reliability & observability – Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident-response practices to ensure high availability and performance across environments.
Service delivery – Establish and professionalize Spenn's service-delivery practices, including incident management, on-call, runbooks, and clear SLAs/SLOs, to raise operational maturity and ensure dependable, well-run services.
Security & compliance – Apply security best practices across infrastructure and pipelines, supporting Spenn’s data-privacy and compliance requirements (in accordance with our ISO27001 certification).
Developer enablement – Improve the developer experience through tooling, automation, and self-service infrastructure.
AI-Driven Efficiency – Utilize and advocate for AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot) to streamline operations, automation, and documentation.
Collaboration – Partner closely with backend engineering, security, and product teams to deliver reliable, well-operated services.
Required Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Several years in DevOps, site reliability, or infrastructure engineering, at a level where you can own systems independently and set the standard.
Hands-on experience operating production workloads on AWS (deep experience with Azure or GCP also relevant, as the principles matter most).
Strong experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code.
Experience deploying and operating Kubernetes in production (we run on EKS).
Proficiency with GitHub and GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation.
Scripting and automation skills (e.g. Python), with a strong automation mindset.
Good understanding of networking, security, and monitoring/observability tooling.
Experience establishing or running service-delivery practices such as incident management, on-call, runbooks, and SLAs/SLOs.
Active, demonstrated use of AI tools (e.g. Claude, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to work more efficiently. This is a genuine expectation at Spenn, not a nice-to-have.
Full professional proficiency in Norwegian (Danish or Swedish also fine) and English. Day-to-day work in Norwegian, while all documentation is in English.
Experience in fintech or other regulated environments is an advantage.
Personal Attributes
Automation-minded and reliability-focused, with strong ownership of the systems you run.
Collaborative and clear communicator who enables other engineers to move faster.
Proactive and structured, with a calm, methodical approach to incidents and risk.
Curious and pragmatic, always looking to simplify and improve.
Comfortable in a fast-paced, iterative environment with evolving priorities.
What we offer
This is a role where your work is felt by millions: every time someone across the Nordics earns or spends points on a flight, a hotel stay, or a grocery run, they rely on infrastructure you own.
By keeping the platform fast, secure and always-on you directly enable every engineer at Spenn to build and ship with confidence and momentum. Being part of the Engineering team at Spenn means being a center of excellence for the wider ecosystem - that’s our ambition. Spenn drives the architecture and tech forums across our owners and partners (including Norwegian, Strawberry and Reitan), so you get to spar with strong engineers well beyond our own walls and take the driver's seat for modern architecture discussions and decisions.
Last but not least, you will do this alongside a small, tight-knit engineering team with a very high professional level and genuinely strong collaboration, where people share knowledge openly, help each other move faster, and enjoy the everyday work.
