Layout Engineer

On behalf of one of our clients, we are looking for a Layout Engineer
Pnr:

Job Description:

• As the Layout discipline representative, you will follow up and support projects, from feasibility studies to detailed engineering. You will play a key role in ensuring high-quality layout solutions and in capturing project lessons learned to improve internal guidelines and specifications.
• Responsibility areas and typical tasks are detailed below:
• Layout discipline representative

• Act as the Layout discipline responsible for the studies and projects

• Safety, Access & Operability Focus
• Ensure safe and efficient personnel access, escape routes, and evacuation paths
• Evaluate working environment, ergonomics, and maintainability early in the design
• Integrate layout input into HAZID, and other technical reviews and workshops

• Verify that layouts support safe construction, operation, inspection, and maintenance

• Contractor Follow-Up & Verification
• Follow up and technically supervise engineering contractors delivering layout and 3D model work
• Review and approve layout drawings, 3D models, and design reports
• Ensure contractors follow Company's design premises, digital requirements, and model maturity expectations

• Interface with multidiscipline teams to resolve layout clashes and design conflicts

• Multidiscipline Coordination
• Coordinate layout interfaces with:
  • Piping
  • Structural
  • HVAC
  • Electrical & Instrumentation
  • Process and mechanical disciplines
  • Safety
• Ensure physical layout supports system functionality and installation logic

• Actively participate in model reviews and design validation sessions

• Early Phase & Concept Development
• Contribute to early?phase project development, feasibility studies, and concept selection,
• Establish layout philosophies, plot plans, spacing requirements, and area classifications
• Support CAPEX/OPEX optimization through smart layout solutions

• Evaluate layout alternatives and provide decision support input to the project team

• Digital Engineering & 3D Model Governance
• Ensure 3D models meet Company's model quality, maturity, and data requirements

• Use and govern BIM/3D tools as decision?support tools

• Decision Support & Stakeholder Advice
• Advise the Engineering Manager, Project Manager, and Asset representatives on layout?related risks and opportunities
• Contribute to project execution strategies
• Support the development of the project design basis and scope of work documents

Qualifications:

• MSc degree in Engineering
• 5-10 years of experience as a layout engineer within the oil & gas, metals, or chemical industries
• Experience from onshore industrial projects is an advantage
• Strong proficiency in written and spoken English; fluency in Norwegian
• Experience with 3D modelling tools
• Knowledge of BIM methodologies and tools

• Experience with early-phase project development (feasibility and concept studies)
