About the Role
The Workshop Technician is responsible for assembling, troubleshooting, configuring, and testing wired tools, network hardware, and test support equipment. This role ensures high-quality maintenance, repair, and upgrades of IntelliServ network hardware and software, while maintaining accurate documentation.
Working independently, the Workshop Technician performs advanced and often non-routine tasks, resolves most technical issues independently, and escalates only complex situations as needed.
This position will support the broader Workshop team at our Tananger facility and contribute to consistent delivery of safe, efficient, and reliable electronic equipment for field operations.

Key Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
Assemble electronic systems, including test fixtures, server racks, and cable assemblies
Install and configure hardware and firmware for testing and field readiness
Troubleshoot and repair IntelliServ network hardware and support equipment
Perform maintenance, upgrades, and servicing of workshop equipment
Document all assembly, testing, and maintenance activities accurately
Use hand tools (hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, wire strippers, etc.) regularly as part of varied daily tasks.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and lean manufacturing principles
Support engineering teams by reporting and documenting technical issues
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in HSE and quality
Support the team with multitasking and prioritizing assignments in a fast-paced workshop environment.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential Qualifications:
High school diploma; 2–3 years of experience in a similar role within the oil and gas sector.
3–5 years of hands-on electronics experience with a strong understanding of basic electronic symbols.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Proficiency using MS Office.
Experience with J-Standard soldering, including relevant certification, and strong practical soldering skills.
Strong ability to document work orders, process data, test results, and maintenance activity.
Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and documenting issues with IntelliServ network hardware and test support equipment, including upgrades and scheduled maintenance.
Experience with all types of hand tools such as; hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, wire strippers, etc.
Basic understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
Desired Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Norwegian language proficiency.
Strong experience reading and interpreting electronic schematics and blueprints.
Experience configuring and testing network firmware and software.
Experience assembling electrical components such as test fixtures, server rack systems, and cable assemblies.
Experience with oscilloscopes, DMMs, and other electronic test equipment.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for resolving technical issues.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
Team-oriented mindset with openness to daily workflow reviews and instructions from supervisory staff.
High attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy.
