Combine technical and people leadership with hands-on development
Do you thrive at the intersection of hands-on software development and technical leadership?
Do you believe the best results come from close collaboration between product, design, and engineering?
We’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join us, working in a cross-functional product team at Laerdal Medical in Stavanger.
About the role
You will be part of a product team consisting of a Product Manager, a Design Lead, and a team of software engineers. Together, you are responsible for continuously discovering, building, and improving the Fleet Management product, ensuring it delivers real value and is a usable, feasible, and commercially sound product.
You’ll stay close to the code while also guiding and growing the team, balancing hands-on development with people leadership.
The team designs and runs the systems that manage tens of thousands of CPR Verification Stations in hospitals and training centers. This fleet supports CPR training for millions of healthcare professionals, most of them working in US hospitals. The market is growing quickly, and Fleet Management is what makes this scaling possible.
You will collaborate with colleagues across Stavanger, Copenhagen, Bangalore, and the US to deliver and operate the complete RQI CPR training solution.
What you will do
Lead, coach, and develop a growing team of software engineers (currently 4)
Act as a key senior engineer and tech lead: design, code, review, and co-create solutions
Integrate AI agents into the end-to-end engineering workflow where it creates value
Shape system architecture and technical direction
Be accountable for technical quality and operational excellence, including a full modern software pipeline and operations
Continuously improve engineering practices and developer experience
Recruit additional engineers as the product area grows
We believe you recognize yourself in most of the following:
You value in-person collaboration with the product team
You have 5+ years' experience as a tech lead and/or architect
You are comfortable owning and operating products with direct impact on real users
You lead AI adoption through example, curiosity, and practical impact
You have experience leading people with empathy, coaching, and feedback
You have relevant higher education (master’s degree is a plus)
Why Laerdal?
