A 1-year Lab Engineer position on AI-based multi-omics analysis
Akershus University Hospital, Norway
- Frist 25.2.2026
- Ansettelsesform Engasjement
The position is located at a research group established to investigate the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying human aging and age-related neurodegeneration (especially Alzheimer’s disease/AD), headed by Associate Professor Evandro Fei Fang at the Akershus University Hospital and the University of Oslo, Norway. The research group is The Department of Clinical Molecular Biology is located at Akershus University Hospital where it is a part of the Division of Medicine and Laboratory Sciences, which is the largest division at the Akershus University Hospital Campus, with approximately 40 university employees. The Department has a large and well-equipped molecular biology laboratory that enables advanced translational research. Research themes include: Genome Stability, Cancer Genomics and Cancer Biology, Neurological diseases.

The Fang group are focusing on the molecular
mechanisms on how cells clear their damaged and aged mitochondria, a process
termed “mitophagy”, as well as the roles of mitophagy in AD. NAD+ is
a fundamental molecule in life and health, and his group is investigating the
molecular drivers on how the NAD+-autophagy/mitophagy axis
alleviates ageing and age-predisposed neurodegeneration, especially AD (Nature
Neuroscience 2019; Cell Metabolism 2019; Nature Biomedical Engineering 2022;
Brain 2026; Nature Ageing 2026). He is fascinated with and actively engaged in
moving his laboratory findings to translational applications, as involved in 5
NAD+-based clinical trials as well as co-leading a phase II clinical
trial in investigating effect of a mitophagy inducer urolithin A against
Alzheimer´s disease (funded by Alzheimer´s Association), with the overarching
goal to establish novel and safe biological approaches to promote longer and
healthier human lives. Recent publications of the Fang lab are available at https://evandrofanglab.com/publications/.
