You’ll be joining a globally-distributed company and working on new and cutting-edge development with the Core team. The team is composed of a group of 10 skilled, easy-going members who do incredible things, including breaking speed records in collaboration with Intel.
What You’ll doAs a Systems Developer, you’ll be part of the distributed Core team, located in Scandinavia and France. You will spend most of your time maintaining and developing our core product, Varnish Enterprise and related VMODs. You will develop features, fix bugs, while having the bigger picture and end-user in mind. Part of the job will include low-level OS interfacing to optimize memory handling, disk operations, thread synchronization, etc.
You will get a sense of technical freedom and ownership, since we always consider quality over quantity and work on long-term ongoing projects. At Varnish Software’s Engineering department, you will have the opportunity to influence your own assignments, whether you’d like to participate in customer dialogues, business travels, be involved in the open-source project, or work solely in the technical sphere.
You'll work at our office in Oslo, Norway or Karlstad, Sweden.
Responsibilities
Manage your own time well and be self-motivated
Collaborate with your co-workers and participate in technical discussions
Test your code and review colleagues’ code
Fix bugs and improve our software
Assist with supporting our customers
Write clean, readable code that is easy for others to understand
Contribute to our open-minded and friendly culture
Qualifications
Technical interest and a drive to keep up-to-date with new technologies
Friendly, humble, and self-disciplined person with a meticulous mind
A master’s degree from a university or at least 2-3 years of experience as a software engineer
Comfortable with C, Rust or similar low-level programming language
Experience with multithreaded applications
Experience with using test-driven development
Experience with AWS or other IAAS services
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with Devops (Github actions, deployment, packaging)
