As a Principal Mechanical Engineer specializing in Rotating Equipment, you will strengthen the Mechanical Engineering team and contribute to key projects across oil and gas and renewables. This role combines deep technical expertise with the opportunity to guide younger engineers, ensuring continuity of critical competence within a department facing upcoming retirements. You will play an important part in delivering high‑quality engineering solutions for Concept Development, major FEED and EPC projects.
About the position
In this position, you will serve as the package responsible engineer for rotating equipment packages, including centrifugal and reciprocating compressors and pumps. Your responsibilities will span Conceptual studies, technology qualification, equipment selection, and assessments of rotating machinery and auxiliary systems. You will prepare equipment specifications and datasheets, evaluate supplier quotations, and act as a key technical contact for suppliers, customers, and internal disciplines. The role includes conducting inspections and testing at supplier workshops, overseeing installation and testing activities on yard and offshore, addressing technical queries, reviewing supplier documentation, contributing to technical data registers, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards, and supporting timely delivery of equipment and documentation.
Qualifications
Minimum 10-15 years of relevant experience delivering rotating equipment for NCS projects as Package Responsible Engineer
Experience from multidisciplinary engineering in supplier or EPC contractor environments
Familiarity with relevant local and international codes and standards (API 610, API 614, API 617, API 682, API 692, API 618, API 674, API675, API 676), NORSOK, as well as Norwegian regulations

You work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong multidisciplinary understanding and the ability to collaborate across complex interfaces. You bring excellent problem‑solving skills and communicate clearly with colleagues, suppliers, and clients. Your approach is proactive, structured, and aligned with high expectations for quality and timely delivery. You share knowledge openly, seek input when needed, and contribute positively to team development. You communicate well in English, both verbally and in writing, and have an advantage if you understand Norwegian.
