About KSAT Hyper
Hyper is a strategic initiative by Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT) to redefine how space data is delivered, secured, and used. By extending the world's most trusted ground station network into low Earth orbit, Hyper is building a new layer of space infrastructure designed for speed, resilience, and sovereignty.
At its core, Hyper enables near-real-time access to space data anywhere on Earth. By combining an orbiting relay capability with KSAT's global ground network, Hyper drastically reduces latency between satellite tasking, data acquisition, and decision-making. This capability is increasingly critical for applications where timing, trust, and availability matter — including Earth observation, climate monitoring, security, defense, and commercial operations.
Hyper is not a single mission or a one-off system. It is a long-term infrastructure program designed to scale over time, support multiple customers and mission types, and integrate tightly with existing and future space systems. The first Hyper satellites are scheduled for launch in 2027, marking the transition from development to operations, and the starting point for a broader constellation and service evolution in the years that follow.
Joining Hyper means contributing to the early build-out of a strategically important space capability, working at the intersection of space systems, communications, and operations. The work is foundational, technically demanding, and mission-critical; it directly shapes how satellite services will be delivered at scale in the next decade.

About Replica
Replica is our mission analysis and orchestration platform used to model and operate complex space networking scenarios. We build backend systems that coordinate workflows, reason about constraints, and provide reliable services under evolving requirements—supporting both internal operations and external customer-facing capabilities over time.
What you will do
Design and implement distributed backend services that support orchestration, state management, and reliable execution of workflows.
Build backend components in Rust and/or Python, with a focus on correctness, resilience, and operability.
Work with distributed systems concepts such as replication, fault tolerance, consistency, and coordination in real-world systems.
Contribute to networking and protocol-adjacent components where relevant (e.g., service-to-service communication patterns, queues, event logs).
Raise the bar on system design: observability, load testing, incident learnings, and engineering best practices.
What we are looking for
Professional experience developing backend applications in Rust and/or Python.
Master's degree in a relevant field; equivalent experience may compensate for a degree.
Experience working with distributed systems, including one or more of:
coordination/consensus concepts (e.g., Raft/Paxos-like approaches),
replicated state, concurrency control, idempotency,
reliability patterns (timeouts, retries, backpressure, circuit breakers),
networking and protocol fundamentals.
Strong software engineering fundamentals: testing, code review, production debugging, and performance analysis.
A collaborative team player who can work effectively across engineering and domain stakeholders.
Nice to have
Experience designing APIs and service contracts for long-lived systems (versioning, compatibility).
Familiarity with event-driven systems (streams, durable queues) and/or data stores with consistency trade-offs.
Experience with async Rust, message-oriented middleware, or formal reasoning about failure modes.
Interest in space networking concepts (e.g., DTN-like constraints, intermittent connectivity), not required.
How we work at KSAT Hyper

What We Expect From You
Ownership: You take responsibility for your work end-to-end and follow through on commitments
Technical rigor: You care about how things work, challenge assumptions, and document decisions
Judgment: You balance speed with quality, security, and long-term impact
Collaboration: You work constructively across disciplines, cultures, and organizations
Integrity: You act in a way that builds trust with colleagues, partners, and customers
What You Can Expect From Us
Meaningful responsibility: You will work on systems that matter and are trusted by others
High technical standards: You will be surrounded by people who care deeply about engineering and operations
Long-term perspective: Decisions are made with durability, scalability, and responsibility in mind
Collaboration and openness: You will work closely with experts across KSAT and partner organizations
Room to shape the future: Hyper is early in its journey, your work will directly influence how this infrastructure evolves
