Technical Support Engineer
NBIM is looking for a new team member to join our 4-person Service Desk team supporting 400 staff members in Oslo. This is a dynamic environment with high walk-up traffic where you'll work alongside an established, autonomous team. You are a technical generalist and customer-focused expert with a genuine problem-solver mindset and experience troubleshooting Windows and Mac OS, hardware, and software issues.
The right person should have a resourceful mindset, keen to learn and seek information from online resources and collaborate within the wider Technology department. You will take ownership of an incident from start to finish—not just triaging tickets, but being curious about each one, learning from it, and seeking help from supporting Technology teams to continuously grow your skills. We offer a comprehensive 3 month induction period with regular management check-ins to ensure you're well-equipped and supported as you develop.
What you will do
Take ownership of incidents, demonstrating your communication and documentation skills
Provide proactive support technical initiatives and be comfortable resolving issues that require advanced troubleshooting
Identify patterns in recurring issues, flag them as problems, and work to find root cause solutions
Act as a trusted technical advisor
Maintain documentation for technical processes and solutions
Collaborate on service improvements, contributing valuable input in team discussions
Support critical incident responses, including coordinating resources and communicating with stakeholders
Take part in projects related to service improvements, technology deployments, and security enhancements
Work Schedule
Candidates will complete 8-hour daily shifts during core working hours, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00AM CET and 6:00PM CET. Where necessary you should be willing to work outside of core hours over the weekend for scheduled maintenance (such as network changes or power outages). This is occasional, flexible within the team, and will be compensated.
What you need
Excellent communication skills in English and Norwegian (Norwegian for daily user interactions, English for documentation and team communication)
4+ years of progressive experience in technical support or IT operations, demonstrating willingness to learn and upskill in a high-paced technology environment
Proven technical knowledge of enterprise IT environments, including Microsoft 365, Windows and Mac OS, Microsoft Intune, and networking
Understanding of ITIL framework and IT service management principles
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience
Relevant technical certifications (MCSA, CompTIA, ITIL) are a plus
