Join GE HealthCare as Lead Analytical Scientist
The Analytical Chemistry team is part of the Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) Development organization within Pharmaceutical Diagnostics (PDx) at GE HealthCare.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Analytical Scientist to serve as a laboratory-based subject matter expert for analytical control methods supporting our Molecular Imaging portfolio.
The role will primarily focus on the development, verification, validation, transfer, and troubleshooting of HPLC-based methods, particularly HPLC-UV and HPLC methods coupled with radiometric detection.
Working closely with the Radiochemistry and Pharmaceutical Development teams, the successful candidate will provide hands-on analytical expertise to establish robust and phase-appropriate control methods.
The role will support the resolution of complex method- and product-related analytical challenges and contribute to the transfer and implementation of methods in receiving laboratories.
The position requires strong practical chromatography expertise, scientific judgement, structured problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and regulated development environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Serve as the laboratory-based Analytical Chemistry SME for control methods supporting Molecular Imaging agents.
- Develop, optimize, and validate HPLC-UV and HPLC-radiometric methods for Molecular Imaging agents in our NPI pipeline.
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting of chromatographic methods, instrumentation, sample preparation, and analytical investigations.
- Plan and support method transfer, verification, and implementation within internal and external receiving laboratories.
- Author and review analytical procedures, protocols, development and validation reports, transfer documentation, investigation reports, and regulatory-supporting documents.
- Communicate analytical results, risks, and recommendations to cross-functional project teams and contribute to control strategy decisions.
- Contribute to standardized working practices, technical capability building, and continuous improvement within Analytical Chemistry.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline, with relevant industry experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience with HPLC method development, optimization, validation, verification, transfer, and lifecycle management.
- Strong practical experience with HPLC-UV, chromatographic data systems, system troubleshooting and analytical sample preparation.
- Strong scientific judgement, structured problem-solving skills, with experience interpreting complex analytical data and preparing clear scientific and technical documentation.
- An ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and time-sensitive environment.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
Desired Characteristics/Skills:
- Experience supporting radiopharmaceutical or Molecular Imaging product development and manufacture, especially with HPLC coupled to radiometric detection, including gamma-detection systems.
- Hands-on experience with LC-MS, mass-spectral interpretation, and impurity characterization.
- Experience working under GMP/GxP or within an accredited laboratory.
- Knowledge of applicable ICH and regulatory expectations for analytical methods across the pharmaceutical development lifecycle.
- Fluency in Norwegian, or willingness to learn if based in Oslo.
