An "A Perfect Circle - Commercial Edits" CD-R refers to an official, in-house Virgin Records promotional CD-R distributed strictly to radio stations, programming directors, and music video networks. These discs were produced in very limited quantities directly by the label's marketing or duplication departments (often by houses like Digital Audio Disc Corporation or Virgin's internal studios) to deliver clean, shortened, or alternate arrangements of singles for commercial airplay.
Unlike retail CDs, these are genuine recordable CD-Rs. They typically feature a generic silver or white top with printed black text detailing the band name, title ("Commercial Edits" or specific track edits), and a Virgin Records logo. They usually come in a slimline jewel case with a basic text-only insert (often called a "j-card") or a simple white paper sleeve.
