We are now looking to hire for the following position:

Senior Geomechanics / Rock Mechanics Specialist

Stratum Reservoir is expanding its Wellbore Productivity Laboratory in Stavanger and is seeking an experienced Geomechanics / Rock Mechanics Specialist to strengthen our growing team.

Our laboratory combines formation damage, production chemistry and geomechanics capabilities, providing support to operators and service companies worldwide.

This is a unique opportunity to help build one of Europe's most advanced wellbore productivity laboratories.

About the Role:

You will take a leading role in developing and executing laboratory studies related to:

  • Stress sensitivity

  • Sand production

  • Completion damage

  • Reservoir geomechanics

  • Produced water reinjection (PWRI)

  • Coupled flow and geomechanical testing

  • Formation Damage

You will work closely with laboratory scientists, engineers and clients to design, execute and interpret specialised testing programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and perform geomechanics and rock mechanics laboratory testing

  • Operate and develop triaxial test systems

  • Interpret geomechanical test results

  • Support coupled flow and stress experiments

  • Prepare technical reports and client presentations

  • Develop new testing methodologies

  • Provide technical input to proposals and business development activities

  • Support internal R&D projects

Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates with:

  • MSc in Geomechanics, Petroleum Engineering, Rock Mechanics, Geoscience or similar

  • Experience with laboratory testing of reservoir rocks

  • Knowledge of stress sensitivity and sand production mechanisms

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
