Rare Authentic Norwegian Glass Fishing Floats.
Set of 16 Interconnected Floats with Original Netting & Maker's Marks (Used in Arctic Norway)
Listing Description
Authentic Maritime History from the Far North.
Bring a piece of true Arctic maritime heritage into your home with this exceptional set of 16 antique glass fishing floats (glasskavler).
These historical floats were used in the active fisheries of Salttjern / Vadsø in Finnmark, located at the extreme northern edge of Norway, far above the Arctic Circle. Deployed at sea by local Arctic fishermen, they carry a stunning, genuine patina earned through years of battling the harsh northern oceans.
Key Features & Details:
100% Authentic with Original Netting: Unlike reproduction pieces, these are genuine historical floats featuring their original hemp rope netting directly from their working days at sea.
Collector’s Detail (Maker’s Marks): Som of the floats feature clear, crisp maker's mark embossings with the letters stamped directly into the glass seal, a highly sought-after detail for vintage glass float collectors.
Complete Connected Set: This set includes 16 glass floats still strung together in their original, interconnected sequence, an increasingly rare find, as most floats were separated over the decades.
Unique Weathered Patina: The glass and netting exhibit a rich, rustic character with gorgeous air bubbles, authentic ocean wear, and historic charm.
Versatile Coastal Decor: Perfect for hanging as a statement focal piece, displaying in a coastal home, nautical collection, or rustic interior space.
Condition:
Extremely well preserved vintage condition with authentic wear consistent with historical maritime use. The rope netting remains strong and holds the set together as originally rigged.
Sourced directly from Arctic Norway. Packed with extreme care to ensure safe global delivery.
