Label size is IT 44, yet please notice this is both Italian sizing as well as vintage sizing, so not equivalent to a size 44 here in Scandinavia today— i would estimate this is rather a size 40 in today, and additionally please do notice that in jeans speak this is about W32

Les Copains is a historic Italian luxury fashion house famed for its high-end knitwear, tailored outerwear, and foundational role in the "Made in Italy" movement. The brand was founded in 1958 by Mario Bandiera in Bologna, Italy. Despite being entirely Italian-designed and manufactured, Bandiera chose a French name inspired by the incredibly popular 1960s French radio program, “Salut les Copains”; He did this to merge the youthful, effortless elegance associated with Parisian culture with the mastery of Italian tailoring and material craftsmanship. Also, the tags explicitly list B.V.M. Italia S.p.A., which was the prestigious parent manufacturing company established by Bandiera to produce the brand's garments. At its height, B.V.M. was a powerhouse of Italian textile production, globally acclaimed for pioneering sophisticated techniques in cashmere, fine wools, and intricate structural knitwear. This piece features Pura Lana Vergine (Virgin Wool), which was a signature premium textile regularly used by B.V.M. factory lines to ensure durability and a soft, luxurious drape. Les Copains built a reputation for dressing sophisticated women in elegant, conservative, yet modern mix-and-match separates. They frequently shared Milan Fashion Week runways alongside major historic fashion giants. Over the decades, the house acted as a launchpad or collaborative home for legendary designers early in their careers, including Gianni Versace, Karl Lagerfeld, and Antonio Berardi.
