Mechanical Design & Product Development Engineer Wanted
We are looking for a hands-on and detail-oriented Mechanical Design & Product Development Engineer to strengthen our technology development team in Stavanger.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys turning practical challenges into robust mechanical solutions and wants to contribute to the development, testing, and improvement of advanced downhole tools. You will be following the product from ideation to prototype and launch, ensuring its success in the field.
About the Role
As part of our technology development function, you will report to the Technology Development Manager, and work closely with engineering, operations, workshop, and project teams to develop new mechanical solutions and optimize existing products.
You will be involved from concept and design through testing, documentation, and implementation, with a strong focus on practical performance, quality, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will take an active part in product development and engineering activities, with responsibilities including:
Design and develop new mechanical solutions and optimize existing downhole tools.
Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, and technical documentation.
Participate in concept development, prototyping, testing, and qualification activities.
Project Management - Plan, execute, and document product development projects, tests and verification programs.
Collaborate with engineering, workshop, and operations teams to ensure practical and manufacturable solutions.
Contribute to project execution, risk assessment, and continuous product improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
We are looking for a candidate with strong technical and creative capability and a practical engineering mindset.
Relevant experience may compensate for formal education.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
Strong mechanical design capability with advanced CAD proficiency.
Experience with hydraulic and mechanical tool design, preferably within downhole tools or well intervention equipment.
Proven experience from product development, including test planning, execution, documentation, and reporting.
Experience with coiled tubing, well intervention, P&A, or downhole tool applications is advantageous.
Experience with FEA or other engineering analysis tools is considered a plus.
Ability to contribute to structured project execution and cross-functional engineering work.
Good written and verbal communication skills in both Norwegian and English

Location
The role is based at our office in Tananger and requires regular hands-on presence with our tools, workshop, and testing environment.
