"EXPEDITION ZIP SET UP TIPS AND RECOMMENDED LASHING
HAMMOCK SET UP
Wrap webbing straps one or more times around tree and bring loops together
in line with the opposite tree. Pass rope ends through webbing loops. Adjust
hammock until centered. Wrap the rope end completely around support rope
and then drop rope end down into the space between the webbing loops and
the tree. Tighten each wrap and repeat lashing at least 3 more times in a figure
8 pattern and tie off with two half hitches leaving at least 6"/15 cm of rope.
Entrance should be at chair height under tension of your weight and the ridge
line is level and just slightly slack. Depending on the weather conditions,
adjust width of hammock by changing tension or angle of side elastic cords to
tree branches, bushes, rocks, improvised stakes or to canopy side
adjustment cords.
CANOPY SET UP
Align the asymmetrical fly to match the hammock shape. To maximize
coverage and achieve a properly tensioned canopy, clip the plastic "O" rings
at each end of the canopy onto the stronger plastic hooks of the sliding fly
tensioner tied to the main support ropes and slide the knot to adjust fly
tension. Next, clip the lighter plastic hook attached to each end of the
canopy onto the main support rope. Center canopy widthwise by attaching
side adjustment cords equally tight to nearby tree branches or ground
anchors at whatever angle seems right for the conditions. Adjust the fly into
the wind for better coverage in a blow. In wet windy conditions, tie the side fly
lines out as far as posssible and attach a weight to side corners of fly to
maintain tension.
HOW TO ENTER AND SLEEP IN A HENNESSY HAMMOCK ZIP
IMPORTANT: To avoid damage to the zipper, completely unzip the mesh before
you sit down in the hammock, then partially close the zipper before lifting your
legs inside, then completely close the zipper. Lay back in the hammock with
the zipper on your right side. Now move into the diagonal position by moving
your feet to the right side within 6" or 8" of the zipper. Next center the left side
tie-out between your shoulder and elbow about 2" from the mesh. Stretch out
to remove wrinkles under you and now your lower back and knees are
correctly supported. If your shoulder and elbow do not stay centered on the
left side tie-out, raise or lower the head or foot of the hammock to achieve
maximum comfort. You can sleep on your side or in other positions, but try to
stay on the diagonal.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Dry damp gear before repacking to avoid mildew, mold or color bleeding. To
clean, hand wash using mild detergent, warm water rinse and air dry. Inspect
for damage after each use. Children under 12 years must be supervised. Do
not smoke, cook or light fires inside the hammock. Hammock is guaranteed for
one occupant weighing under 250 lbs.
