Over the years, O’Neill has formed close bonds with many of his sitters, evidenced by the intimate, snapshot-style nature of many of his photographs from the 1960s and ’70s. “I’m a reportage photographer, and I just like fading into the background,” says O’Neill. “The more discrete you are, the better off you are.”
Terry O’Neill is one of the world’s most collected photographers whose work hangs in national art galleries and private collections worldwide. For over six decades, he has photographed the front line of fame, from the greats of screen and stage to presidents, prime ministers and rock stars.
