Selling an absolute icon of the heritage and workwear scene: the Filson Journeyman Backpack (Style 79037) in the original Dark Tan (DT) colorway.
Please note that this is not the modern, outsourced version currently found in retail shops. This is a highly coveted, archival "Made in USA" model manufactured in April 2014. It stems from Filson’s golden era end in Seattle, where the quality control, build precision, and material density were vastly superior to current production.
Construction & Materials:
Main Body: Built using heavy-duty 14-oz. Oil Finish Tin Cloth for maximum rain, snow, and sleet protection.
Base & Back Panel: Reinforced with industrial-strength, 2-ply by 3-ply Rugged Twill for bulletproof durability.
Straps & Trim: Thick, vegetable-tanned Bridle Leather straps sourced from historic tanneries. Interior Lining: Fully lined with a classic hunter green/red 100% Wool lining over a padded organizer pocket.
Hardware: Indestructible, heavy-gauge solid brass zippers from YKK.
Condition & Professional Maintenance
Completed: The bag is in excellent vintage condition with an incredible, rich patina that only comes with years of ownership. It has minimal structural damage, tears and has just undergone a comprehensive overhaul to prepare it for its next owner:
Freshly Rewaxed with Original Filson Wax: The entire canvas exterior has been treated with a fresh application of original Filson oil finish wax. The wax was deeply heat-set into the fibers, restoring 100% of its weather-ready water resistance and giving the fabric a deep, striking look.
Custom Structural Zipper Reinforcement: The Tin Cloth storm flap running over the main compartment zipper is the #1 wear point on this model because the rough brass zipper teeth naturally rub against the canvas edge over time. I have added custom reinforcement stitching along this friction line to prevent any future fraying or tearing. It is now tougher and more robust than it was out of the factory.
Leather Nourishment: The Bridle Leather shoulder straps and haul loop have been deeply hydrated with high-quality leather oil(Saphir Renovateur).
The internal padded sleeve fits up to a 15" laptop perfectly, making it an elite daily companion for commute, travel, or the trail. This bag is fundamentally built to survive for decades.
