BMS (Control and Monitoring) Manager Data Center
Take responsibility for the digital nervous system of a modern data center
We are looking for an experienced BMS Manager to lead the control, monitoring, and automation of an advanced data center. You will be responsible for ensuring that all critical technical systems operate seamlessly, so the center maintains high uptime, security, and energy efficiency.
As a BMS Manager, you will be a central key person who connects automation, operations, and technical infrastructure. You will work with both the construction phase and the daily operation of systems that are essential for the data center to function without interruptions.
About the role
You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the data center's BMS solutions from early design and planning, through development, testing, and commissioning, to handover and ongoing optimization in operation. The role requires both technical depth and a strong ability to coordinate different disciplines and suppliers.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and follow up of BMS and monitoring systems for critical data center infrastructure.
- Review and quality assure designs, functional descriptions, control strategies, alarm logic, trend logging, and integrations with other technical systems.
- Actively participate in design reviews and identify technical risks related to software, integration, and commissioning.
- Coordinate closely with contractors, subcontractors, M&E disciplines (electrical and mechanical), and the end user to ensure good progress and quality.
- Ensure good status reporting, deviation handling, risk management, and progress monitoring.
- Lead or participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT), site testing, commissioning, system verification, and complete technical handover to operations.
- Contribute to troubleshooting and optimization across BMS, HVAC, electrical systems, and associated networks.
- Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with HSE requirements, industry standards, and site-specific safety regulations.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a structured and technically strong individual with good overall understanding. You must be able to see the connections between automation, operations, energy, and long-term stability, and enjoy coordinating multiple stakeholders in complex projects.
Qualifications
- Relevant higher education in automation, electrical engineering, cybernetics, building automation, or equivalent (automation engineer or technical college education in automation is relevant).
- A trade certificate in automation/electrical engineering combined with solid experience and further education can also be qualifying.
- Experience from data centers, mission-critical facilities, building automation, or industrial automation is strongly preferred.
- Practical knowledge of BMS platforms such as Metasys, Tridium Niagara, Trend, Siemens, or Schneider is a clear advantage.
- Good understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical processes, as these are tightly integrated with BMS in data centers.
- Experience with testing, commissioning, documentation, and technical handover.
- Project experience with coordination, reporting, and supplier management is an advantage.
- Good communication skills in both Norwegian and English (English is often the working language in data center projects).
- Knowledge of data center standards such as EN 50600 is a plus.
What we expect from you
You will create overview, robustness, and trust in complex technical deliveries. You must be able to follow the process from idea to operation and ensure that the systems are both technically solid and practical for the operations organization to use.
What we offer
- A central and challenging leadership role at the intersection of advanced automation and critical infrastructure.
- The opportunity to work with some of the market's most modern control and monitoring systems.
- Cross-disciplinary collaboration with skilled colleagues within electrical, HVAC, project, and operations.
